This page says what the site knows about you, which is very little, and what is done with it, which is almost nothing. It is written in plain English because a privacy policy you cannot read is not a policy; it is a hedge.
There is nothing to sign up for here. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits — which pages are read and roughly where in the world they are read from — so I know which rooms of this site earn their keep. It does not tell me who you are, and I run no advertising trackers. If you block analytics, nothing here will mind or break.
A letter sent through the contact page travels via FormSubmit, a form-delivery service, and arrives as an email. Your name, address and letter are used to read and reply to you — nothing else. They are not added to any list, shared with anyone, or sold to anyone, ever. If you would like a past letter deleted, ask and it will be.
Your address is used to send you the letter you asked for. It is not shared, rented, or sold, and every letter will carry a way to stop them. Unsubscribing works the first time, without a guilt trip.
Like nearly every site, this one is served by a hosting provider (Cloudflare), and its pages fetch typefaces from Google Fonts and map geometry from public code archives. Those services see the ordinary technical traffic any web request produces — an IP address asking for a file. That is infrastructure, not surveillance, but you deserve to know it exists.
When the Shelf carries links to things that can be bought, some of those links may earn this house a small commission at no cost to you. Where that is so, it will be said on the page. Nothing on the Shelf is there because somebody paid for the placement; it is there because I would keep it.
