The furthest page in the directory from my own front door, and the one I have earned the least right to.
One entry, and I have not been to it. That is the whole honest position of this page. Everything I know about Alberton I know from letters and from a catalogue, which is enough to keep a plate number and nowhere near enough to describe a room.
The country is not thin on houses — it is thin in this directory, which is a fault of mine and not of New Zealand. Auckland is the entry I have; the rest is a list I have not yet earned the right to publish.
When it happens it will be January, because the entry says January and I see no reason to disbelieve it, and it will be a proper fortnight rather than a stopover. Until then the mark stays hollow and the page stays short.
