Lebanon

One entry, in one city, and I have not been. I would rather keep the page honest than fill it.

Notes for Lebanon

I have not been to Lebanon. That is the first and most useful thing this page can tell you, and I would rather say it plainly at the top than let a well-turned sentence imply otherwise further down.

The entry that holds the plate is a house in Beirut, and a house that has had to be put back together. When I go, it will be for the building as much as the collection — which is the usual reason I go anywhere, but here it is the whole reason.

One entry is not a country. This plate stays thin until I have earned the right to lengthen it, and readers who know Beirut better than I do are invited to write in and correct my ignorance.
